I was incredibly impressed with the customer service. Some of the reviews make sense when they are frustrated over the app not working properly at first, but if you took the time to email their customer suppor they are very fast to respond and very pleasant to deal with. Customer serivce is something that seems to go ignored commonly in business now so its refreshing to get fantastic support as well as responses that answered my questions and went above and beyond to supply me with answers. I know its just a journal app but I was impressed. The password feature is nice, but dont forget it! Nice journal app overall and Id recommend it if you want an app that the design team will be diligent to fix errors for you!

I really like this and want it to be awesome because I have already spent a lot of time journaling with it so I have become accustomed to it. But I would love to see a simpler way to add video, record video and add pictures directly from inside the app itself. I know it is simple as finding the photos and adding them but it breaks the train of thought and since it requires me to go out of the app to do this I never really use the feature which I woudl like to. SO I am hoping that if I give them a five star rating to help them out they will add this in the next update please.

I have been looking for a great journaling app...and have found it. When first installed, I was not able to open it, but contacted Customer Support and have had great support response and success with the app since. I am looking forward to adding my photos and videos, in addition to "catching up" with my journaling...I especially like that you can journal for previous/past dates and save the entry as that previous date.

I love this application, it is simple to use and a great value when you compare to other journaling applications. I had issues with the application not opening but customer support is quick and helpful and had me up and running again in no time.

I bought this app in March, it worked great until a few weeks ago, I tried to open it, and gave me an error message. I contacted the app support who were diligent trying to help me; they gave me a bunch of difficult to follow instructions that I followed just like they said, but the app has never worked again. Turns out they gave me the wrong instructions, so they contacted me again with "correct" instructions but to this day I have been unable to retrieve my blogs, pictures, and thoughts. I am truly disspaointed and I do not recommend this app to anyone. I downloaded day one instead, and so far it works great. I want my money back please!

I bought it about a couple days ago and I used it that day. I liked the fact that it allowed me to post pictures and links and all that, which is mainly why I bought it. And of course, I put a password to it since it was my "diary". Next day, I tried to open it with the right password and it wouldnt let me in. It doesnt even state that I have the wrong password or anything. It just simply asks if I want to report this to Apps Store, which I did, about 10 times. Its been a couple days now and mine still doesnt work. It would be a really great app if it works well.

I was attracted to this app because of its simple, clean interface, password protection, and very reasonable price. Unfortunately, the password protection is highly unstable. Ive lost access to my data three times now, and although there is a workaround so that one can go on using the application, there is no way to retrieve preveiously recorded entries when the application does not recognize the correct password. All in all, the low price was quite expensive, as I lost work that was very important to me. I am not going to risk my data again: looks like a MacJournal purchase may be in my future.

There’s not much too say. This app is really great. Easy to use, you can also add images. Fully recommended! I think I will print out my sons whole journal as and gift it to him when he’s older.

tried to create a password - wouldnt let me, tried to go into the app again and said I needed my password, put in the one I made and it said not the right one, so now I cant get back in. I am very computer savvy and shouldnt be having this much trouble with such a simple app - waste of money

Well, simple and easy UI, but something are missing. No organization tools, like tags, flags or other are not there. On left side pane, useless entry date and time were shown only. As a private, local, not online, diary, how we can set destination folder for your diary. As your diary grows, your drive not. Autosave when application quits would be useful.

Its amazing. Its easy to use, easy to navigate, handy and simple. Only thing I wish is that there were a feature to easily rezie photos IN the journal. So once you import you can grab the corner and expand/decrease Customer service is amazing

Having a horrible experience at this time. Ive had it for almost a week and Ive had nothing but problems with it. Like some of the others have mentioned, I did get locked out when I set up a password and after I fixed it I lost my entry I had just entered before the issue. Problem was not due to my error at all. Now I cant view any of my previous entries when I click on them and its not letting me type any new entries. Really hope I can figure out how to fix this issue without losing everything again.

Have not used this application since downloading 4 months ago. Went to make entries and password was requested. I entered the password that I recall creating, but it refuses it. There is no way to communicate or request a new password. Unless I can gain access, this has been a complete waster of $.

This program slows down my mac and takes an excessive amount of time to load. I do not like this particular app.

This app worked well for me for quite some time until suddenly it just stopped accepting my password. One day it works and the next it doesnt. Now I have no way to recover my information which I am completely unhappy about..everything I wrote down in a year is just gone and Im very upset about it. I think there should be some sort of way to recover the data or the password. I shouldnt lose out if there is a bug in the system. Im very displeased that I have lost the ability to access that data forever and I think that this should be prevented in the future somehow.

Wow! I have been using Memories for nearly two years now and I cannot express how simply perfect this app is! It is simply, stunningly beautiful! The functionality is perfect and it has intuitive features that anyone will love and appreciate. The most recent update was AMAZING! Beautiful. Not to mention way faster. Definitly the journal app to get (trust me, I have tried them all) esspecially at this price. I love the team; they are fantastic, very customer service oriented and personal. Thanks!

New to this app but already love it. Had one question and it was answered in just a few minutes - couldnt ask for better support. As far as I can tell, any of the earlier problems have been fixed, such as adding to an earlier post. As to being able to add pictures and video within the app, you can if you use your iSight camera but I dont see what the big deal is about dragging it off of your desktop otherwise. And having the ability to resize within the app? This isnt Photoshop folks - and it isnt priced like Photoshop. I think it is perfect just the way it is. Thanks for a great app!

Ive had this app for over a year now and its become my go-to app for journaling. I honestly dont know why there are so many one star reviews. If thats whats holding you back from buying it, dont let it. Their customer support is top-notch and they still work hard to keep this app updated years after its initial release. About a year back, I requested that they add an in-app video recording feature for making vlogs easily and they added that feature in soon after. Along with this, theyve personally replied to every one of my emails I sent them within a day. Ive yet to receive a canned response to one of my feature request. The app is well-laid-out and easy-to-use. Its made it simple for me to get back into journaling. If youre on the fence about buying this app, just get it. You wont regret it.

I wont go as far as some of the other reviews in raving about how beautiful this app is. It certainly is attractive but I like the design sensibility of Day One better. It is quite a bit more attractive than the utilitarian look of the granddaddy of Mac journaling apps though (MacJournal). For basic journaling this app pretty much has what most people would want. You can enter text and changes colors and fonts. You can insert pictures. You can even put in videos. You can also encrypt your journal (though Im not clear on how good this encryption really is). If youre only looking for simple journaling on your Mac this is a pretty good bet. Why the four stars then? I think the export options leave a lot to be desired. For example, exporting a journal to plain text makes a file without obvious breaks in the entries. I also dont like the way weather and location are handled. Id like more options for the weather and more importantly better handling of setting the location. And from a geek standpoint this app doesnt leave many options for automation. Unlike MacJournal it doesnt have an AppleScript interface. Unlike DayOne it doesnt have a standard XML file format that is easy to use from a scripting language like Python or Ruby.
